A biography is an explanation or a description of a person's life. It is an account of facts and experiences about him or her. It includes details on his/her birth, work, education, relationships, and death. Usually people who have lots of contribution on his/her field are the most common subject of biography.
There is also a so-called autobiography. There is a big difference between a biography and an autography. Autobiographies are written by the person himself while biographies are outlined by other person.
Let's talk about some history here. According to Wikipedia, "Le Morte d'Arthur" or "The Death of Arthur" is the most famous biography in the late Middle Ages in Europe, it was written by Sir Thomas Malory. National heroes and heroines are also the common topics of biographies as they are part of a particular curriculum. For example, there is a subject on the life and works of Philippines' national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Biographies in the internet and in lots of books can really assist students if they wanted to know more about Rizal.
However, some details in a biography are not that reliable. In fact those are also subjects of debate as well. So if you wanted to know about the life and works of your favorite hero then be sure to make some research and examine the reliability of the data.
National heroes are not the only subject of biographies. Some are also inventors, explorers, researchers, politicians, and a lot more. There is Thomas Edison, George Washington, Albert Einstein, and among others.
If you encounter accounts of short biographies, in case if you do not know, those are biographies that are summarized and contain the most important event of a person's life. Short biographies are not that detailed but those are useful for school projects and researches. Biographies can be boring to read because majority of those are composed of texts only. We have this tendency that our interests in the life and works of a famous persona might be lessened because of longer paragraphs and texts. Oh that's really tiresome.
If you don't want your readers to become tedious in reading your written biography or rather your autobiography then pour some creativity and styles on it. You can add pictures and diagrams so that readers will have a good picture on what you wanted to convey. I have found out how to make readers become more interested on biographies. I discovered that scrapbooking methods and supplies are great assistance in doing so.
